The vision, growth and execution of Terravive’s business is guided by two very experienced technology executives with deep expertise in their individual focus areas. This leadership has allowed Terravive to grow from a twinkle of an idea back in 2015 to a present day company that is executing on significant initiatives and high volume, high quality product throughput for demanding international customers. Terravive’s executive team not only exceeds our customers’ expectations but we have an immediate direct and positive impact on the environment and the reduction of plastic pollution as well as the expenses associated with this pollution. Our leadership is passionate about sustainable technology and the environment.

Julianna Keeling

Founder & CEO

Julianna Keeling is committed to developing innovative solutions that improve the lives of people and their environment. She is the Founder and CEO of Terravive, a consumer products company that has produced marine degradable and home compostable products from proprietary materials since 2015. 

Julianna graduated from Washington & Lee University, where she studied Chemistry & Environmental Studies. She was awarded The Earle Bates Prize in Environmental Citizenship Award, which is chosen by core W&L faculty on the basis of academic performance and contributions to the community. At W&L, Julianna received the top prize at the annual Entrepreneurship Summit. She was also awarded the W&L Johnson Scholarship, a highly competitive merit based scholarship worth over $250k.

In 2019, Julianna was selected to speak at SXSW, the United States Composting Council, and the Virginia’s SWAMfest annual conference. She has published her research in several academic journals and has been featured in publications like the Washington Post, the Richmond Times Dispatch, American Innovation, Richmond Innovation, Bioplastics News, and Plastics. Julianna holds multiple patents on plant-based materials and finished products and dreams of a plastic-less future. 

Joe Swider

VP & COO

Joe is a results-oriented, advanced technology executive with over 25 years experience in international, domestic, federal, and entrepreneurial markets ranging from advanced materials, cyber technology and Department of Defense/Energy sensor systems to industrial operations, including mining and metals, oil and gas and energy.  He has a unique combination of operational experience and vision in extremely diverse markets that allows for significant insight into value-driven actions, including M&A experience that quickly leads to operational excellence.

Throughout his career, Joe has generated value-creation opportunities for a wide variety of companies operating in international and domestic markets. These include U.S. Steel, MJS Partners LLC, The Bode Technology Group, Spec Ops, Inc. and Prime Photonics LC.  Additionally, Joe has been a strategic advisor to several forward-thinking technology companies and organizations including InPleo LLC, Interphase Materials LLC, MagPower Systems, Inc. in Vancouver, Canada, Capital Edge Consulting, and the Department of Energy. 

A native of Pittsburgh, Joe earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and spent four years in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer.
