Terravive was founded in 2015 by chemist and environmental studies graduate Julianna Keeling with a pretty big idea for a company making forks, cups, plates, bowls, and takeout containers:

The products closest to our food deserve a higher standard.

Today, Terravive is a leading manufacturer of plant-based, compostable foodservice disposables made in the USA, built around smarter materials, human health, American manufacturing, and products people can trust.

But it didn't start with a fork.

Before the Forks, There Were Blood Pressure Cuffs.

Julianna grew up around doctors and hospitals, where she saw just how many single-use products came into contact with people every day.

She started asking questions about the materials behind them.

With a background in chemistry, environmental studies, and material science, Julianna began developing alternatives to traditional single-use plastics. One of her earliest inventions was a biodegradable blood pressure cuff, technology she still holds a patent on today.

Yes, Terravive started with a blood pressure cuff.

The product changed. The question didn't.

Can we make the things people use every day better?

Julianna saw an opportunity to apply material science to foodservice and rethink disposables with human health at the center of the conversation.

Terravive began developing plant-based foodservice products designed to perform without relying on the same materials traditionally used for disposable plastic and foam products.

Today, Terravive products are plant-based, compostable, made without intentionally added PFAS, and contain no microplastics.

And we're still asking the same kinds of questions Julianna was asking at the beginning.
